Happy New Year! – What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Over the Christmas break, I’ve been doing some slimming to set me up for the 2014.
My cost-cutting programme has so far gained me 585 pounds for 2014 – I mean £585.
Here’s how I did it:
- I cancelled the mobile contract for my iPad – there are plenty of (free) Wi-Fi zones around these days.
- While making the phone call to cancel my ipad contract, the customer service rep offered me a cheaper contract for my mobile phone – result!
- Finally, I switched my gas and electricity to another provider online.
All in all, a couple of phone calls which have saved me a tidy sum. But I won’t really get the benefit of these reduced costs unless I take one final step – change my monthly standing order for savings, to transfer the sum I have saved. This way I’ll see the real savings, rather than just reduced costs dressed-up as savings on paper.
If you’ve not made any new year money resolutions yet, here’s 10 tips to get you started.
Meantime, all the best for 2014 and look out for more of my blogs in the coming months.
