As Good Money Week begins Julie Hutchison, Consumer Finance Expert, discusses our new research into ethical concerns and how these can affect people’s investment decisions.
Good Money Week in 60 seconds:
Good Money Week in October is a chance to think about whether your values are reflected in how you manage your money. Our research has shown that a third of us have ethical concerns connected with human rights which would have an impact on our investment decisions.
One in five are concerned about ethical business practices and 18% say that climate change would impact on their investment decisions. At the end of September, the Governor of the Bank of England gave a speech on climate change, saying our societies face a series of profound environmental and social challenges. If these kinds of issues are front of mind for you, then you do have a choice about how to invest your money, whether that’s your ISA or your pension.
